Telford Model Aero Club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) and insists that all members must also be a member of the BMFA to make use of their insurance.
We also recognise the BMFA Achievement Scheme with the A and B certificates, though not required to be a member or to be a solo flyer (see below club rules).
TMAC Membership runs from our AGM in December through to the following AGM. BMFA membership & insurance runs from 1st January until 31st December. Proof of BMFA insurance must be shown when joining the club unless it is purchased at the same time as club membership.
Club Subscriptions for 2020 are as follows:-
Spouse / Partner at same address: £54
Junior (U18): £35
Non-Flying Member: £25
New members (not renewals) applications can only be
made in person.
Either at the field to the club chairman, or at any
monthly club meeting.
Note, club rules allow a current TMAC member to host someone.
If you have BFMA insurance, you could visit and have some flights one week-end (provided your host is present and a committee member is informed (see below flight test rules)), to see if we suit you.
We are a small club. Limiting numbers helps keep flying fun and available to all, even on those excellent fair weather summer days when all members arrive on same day.
Senior - £38
Junior - £17
Family Senior - £38
Family Partner - £25
Family Junior - £13
Please note that membership runs until 31st December, 2020 for all classes of membership
You can also add CAA registration through the BMFA, at £9.00 when you renew membership.
Important Rule for New Members
At TMAC we pride ourselves on safety and consider it to be of paramount importance. Whilst the club has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and we want flying to be fun and safe, therefore we have some basic rules, which are adhered to.
One is that we adopt our own Club Flight Test to ensure that all new members are fully aware of our flying site rules and can demonstrate that they are safe and competent to fly solo.
These flight tests are very simple (far easier than the BMFA 'A' test) and consist of a take-off, rectangular circuits in both directions and a landing!
We just want to confirm our club rules are understood by you, and then see that you are safe and fully in control of your model type at all times.
Once you have completed the above to the satisfaction of our approved club examiner, you will receive a Club Certificate.
Anyone holding a BMFA "A" or 'B' certificate will be expected to take at least one successful flight test with one of our BMFA registered instructors, before being allowed to fly solo at our club.
Anyone without either an 'A' or 'B' will be expected to take THREE successful flight tests (on separate days) to prove that they are competent to fly solo.
Up to achievement of successful flight tests, buddy box and/or TMAC member supervision is required, dependant on competency of pilot (as determined by a club examiner).
